Day 124 - Home Instruction

Image result for happy st patrick's day

Tuesday
March 17th

Day 1 is complete! Thank you for all of your support during this time.

We will get through this together!

During your time at home, please complete your work every day, and do your best! All material will be reviewed when we return.

Don't forget to take breaks and have a snack. You're not in the classroom, and it is important that you take a break when needed just like we do in class for snack and specials!

Phonics: WB p. 139-140. These two pages are review from the beginning of year. Use the "Here's a Hint!" boxes to help you with the exercises.

Spelling: Unit 24 Review - WB p. 158-159

Math: Lesson 12.5 - WB p. 148. Please use your notes and "mini" packet to assist you on this lesson. The top of the workbook page also has examples for the lesson.
  • *Use the greatest denominator to make equivalent fractions. We learned how to do this before the closure, and in yesterday's video the first example showed how to do this. If you are struggling with the multiplication method, please use your fraction strips that should still be in your homework folder.
  • Parents, Khan Academy is a great, free resource for help with math. I did not link a video today because I felt as though it gives too little or too much on this concept than what is needed for 3rd grade. I do not want to confuse the class, but feel free to use the site as you see fit.
*March math packets will be collected when we return. Students who have not finished should continue working on it at home.

Reading: Read Chapter 3 of Mr. Popper's Penguins. Complete "Understanding the Story" Chapters 1-3 (front and back) in the Novel Study packet.

Grammar/Writing: "My Writing Journal" - "What is your proudest moment?" Please find and answer this journal in 5-7 sentences. This should be completed in paragraph form. Do not list your sentences. Color the border when you are finished.

Science: Scholastic News - "Will They Survive?" Read and complete by tomorrow. Once you have completed the magazine you may go onto scholastic.com to explore the magazine even more. This is where all the videos will be. Please do not explore other magazines until they are assigned.

Our classroom password is: sts3rdgrade

Religion: St. Patrick packet - Read the story of St. Patrick and complete the word search.

All finished and looking for more..?

Today would be a music day. Put on some of your favorite songs and DANCE!

Mrs. Viggiano updated the art blog with some assignments by grade level.

Research more about St. Patrick. Type any interesting facts that you find in a google doc to share when we return.

IXL - Students are free to use IXL as much as they please.

Read a book of your choice!

Take a "virtual" field trip!
